Environmental damage to riverbank and safety concern

Reported anonymously at 20:26, Fri 22 June 2018

Individual photographed digging out an extensive section of the riverbank just past Conham River Park (and opposite the Old Pump House). I reported this to the harbour master, Tony Moore, and supplied photographs of the person causing the damage (approx 7am, Friday 22nd June). No inspection has been carried out by the harbour office as I understand they are very busy. However, this damage is causing safety issues and safety concerns. Already someone has got stuck in the same spot as it is now slippery from dogs. using it They had trouble getting out. Dogs are getting stuck there as well. The actual damage to the riverbank is clear (and extensive) and I checked it this afternoon to see more of the bank likely to come away due to this person's behaviour. I understand it is illegal to dig out sections of the riverbank! Please feel free to contact me for ny further info over the coming days.
