Zebra crossing needed Reported anonymously at 07:16, Fri 10 January 2020 Clifton Suspension Bridge and surrounding area is a major destination for tourists and Bristolians alike yet traversing the roads in this area is extremely dangerous. There is a need for more formal crossing points to enable pedestrians to more easily travel between Christchurch Green, Clifton Village and Suspension Bridge area, without having to run between cars, many of which drive dangerously and above the 20 mph speed limit. It’s time for Bristol to take a lead in rebalancing public space in favour of pedestrians. There are various places where such a crossing would be useful, eg Suspension Bridge Road near the Bridge, Sion Hill but a crossing would be particularly useful on Observatory Road where the road dissects Christ Church Green and where many people, particularly tourists and children trying to get to the park. The issue has been around since the roads were built but is becoming more of an issue as the roads become busier and the area becomes more popular with visitors. Priority needs to be given to people not cars.
