White lines ignored meaning lorries have issues leaving estate

Reported anonymously at 16:59, Tuesday 23 February 2021

Hello, The Parkway Industrial estate on St Werburghs Road is a very busy estate with large lorries/articulated lorries coming and going all day. Either side of the estate entrance are white lines - which I believe suggest that people don't park there but are only enforced by the police. There are regularly (most days) cars or vans parked on these white lines. When they are it means that the lorries need to reverse back and forth to get out of the estate. This causes lots of additional pollution that doesn't need to be made. Equally, it sometimes leads to lorries bashing/scratching the cars legally parked on the residential side of the road. All that is needed to resolve this issue is double yellow lines on the right hand side of the entrance as you come out (lorries aren't supposed to exit left) so that they can get out without going back and forth. Sometimes the lorries get so stuck that they knock on the doors of the houses to see if residents can move the cars legally parked on the residential side so that they can get out, all because people have not followed the guidance and not parked on the white lines.
