Ashley Close, BS7 redressing road surface

Reported anonymously at 19:29, Thursday 1 April 2021

Dear Sir/Madam, It is in everyone's interest to point out there has been an issue with this work of redressing the surface of this road. The road has been brushed and washed, yet still the result is patchy, a very rough redressing which looks and is really messy. The unwanted double yellow lines (see below) are poorly painted and are also irregular. I understand that the works were subcontracted out so BCC needs to ensure this work is done to the expected high professional standards. It clearly is not. Hence will BCC pay for this or expect anyone else to pay? I can appreciate with a lot of time the road will, by traffic, but it is the tar spillage, patchiness, and the routhness. With previous road redressing work the tar was covered by fine dust and I believe there were complaints about the dust covering vehicles. But the result was far much better. Everyone I have spoken to on Muller Avenue and Ashley Close (most of the residents) are in agreement that the sweeping bend of the junction between these roads does not require the full length of double lines as there is no obstruction where these lines have been extended beyond the bend. If these lines were shortened by 2-3 feet this would allow for more very much needed parking, especially for the families with young children. Parents often struggle parking in other streets by the busy Ashley Down Road and it is a further and unnecessary dangerous struggle for them to carry shopping, push their young and keep an eye on their young, as there is no parking in these cul-de-sacs. Please consider this suggestion. Many thanks, Peter
