Poor Surface Dressing causing loose dirt
Reported in the General Highways Enquiry category anonymously at 12:32, Thu 30 March 2017
Sent to Bristol City Council 2 hours, 32 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1013169.
Southmead road was resurfaced in the autumn of 2016. The re-surfacing consisted of covering the road in a thin layer of tar/asphalt and this was then covered in grit for the cars to push in. This cheap and cheerful way of surface dressing causes a lot of dust. As part of the installation, the road was swept. However, the quality of the surface is so bad that it has had to be swept again in the last couple of weeks and is again in need for another sweep. The dressing has been completely ineffective and the loose grit is a danger to cyclists. In addition, as a council tax payer I would be most unhappy if we are paying for the sweeping of the road. If the surface dressing was done by an outside company, it needs to be redone (properly) at their cost.
