Dropped kerb required for new cycle path
Reported in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 20:32, Tue 11 April 2017
Sent to Bristol City Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1020551.
Now that the cycle path has been rerouted it is extremely difficult to turn left into it from Bonnington Walk (approaching from Filton Avenue). There has been a small amount of tarmac added to make a ramp but it has been spread over such a small distance that the only way to turn into the path and avoid the bollard in the middle is to pull out into the middle of the road and slow down almost to a stop. Considering the aggressive way people drive along that road into Lockleaze I feel I'm taking my life in my hands on a daily basis. Please can a wide, dropped kerb be installed as a matter of urgency? This is a well-used path that is only going to get busier now that the weather has improved. Thank you.

I'm still waiting for a response on this issue? The other bridge over the railway into Lockleaze is due to be closed soon, increasing traffic along this route. This really is a priority that needs to be dealt with before there is a serious accident. Who can I contact directly?

Wow - really helpful. No wonder people have no patience with local government. Useless.

Then the person who investigated this has obviously never ridden a bike in rush hour traffic! There is no way any sane person would think that forcing a cyclist into the path of cars, buses and lorries travelling sometimes in excess of the 30mph speed limit is a sensible solution. Try it yourselves! Even if that is the case then this was never explained. It would be helpful to be informed of the decision making process and how this was assessed. I have raised this with my local councillors as this is a serious issue which needs to be resolved.

Thank you for your lack of consideration. I will keep the transcript of this conversation so when an accident finally does happen, I will have the evidence required to support any legal action against the council for negligence.
