Reported via Android in the Carriageway Defect category anonymously at 16:48, Mon 2 April 2018
Sent to Bristol City Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1265268.
Loose manhole cover. First reported over a year ago. On that occasion someone came and painted some white arrows around it, which have now almost faded away, but nothing was ever done about it.

The problem is much worse now, but clearly no one is interested in doing anything about it.

Not surprisingly, the noise as traffic passes over the manhole cover is getting louder and louder now, which suggests that the cause of the problem is getting worse, but still the council have done nothing to repair it.

I'm convinced that this will never get fixed until the manhole or it's surrounding area collapses and there is an accident.

It's sad to say it, and appalling as it seems, they're never, ever, going to fix this.

Well into the third year since this was first reported. The banging gets louder as each vehicle passes over it. It's Bristol. It's never gonna get fixed!!

Well, after waiting for over 2 years for it to be fixed, I guess that, strictly speaking, it has been fixed. However, all that has been done is someone has laid some bitumen over the manhole cover, which is already breaking away. All a bit novel really, as I thought that manhole covers had to be uncovered, but I'm sure that before too long the volume of traffic going over it will soon wear it all away and we will be back to square one. The phrase 'pig's ear' comes to mind.
