Planters causing unnecessarily large obstruction, likely to lead to an accident

Reported in the Obstruction category anonymously at 15:32, Mon 21 May 2018

Sent to Bristol City Council 3 minutes later

The large planters that have appeared over the weekend in Whitehall Avenue are much too far out in the street and are causing an unnecessarily large obstruction with vehicles having to swerve significantly to pass through them. Cars parked in between would probably cause them to be impassable by the emergency services. This is a tricky corner with limited visibility already and I am concerned that there will be a collision in the near future (if there hasn't been one already). I am also disappointed that I was not consulted about this despite living in a street that can only be accessed via Whitehall Avenue.

Updates

  • Planters were installed with the full authority of Bristol City Council. Large vehicles can get through the gaps. Whitehall Avenue is 20mph, the new planters will help to keep traffic speeds down in the road.

  • Are you going to review these? Two have fallen over (suggesting never suitable for highways use in the first place), no line markings on street nearby means that gap between is often blocked by parked vans/cars etc, making it difficult to pass through and with limited visibility of the route ahead. Would also appreciate a link to the council decision that they should be installed.
