Roadworks staff putting pedestrians at more risk than necessary
Reported in the Obstruction category anonymously at 10:53, Thu 16 August 2018
Sent to Bristol City Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1389312.
The road has been cordoned off, and tied with ZIP TIES to stop pedestrians cutting through to cross the road via the median. This means that to cross over the median (which is incredibly unsafe but the only alternative to walking to the top of temple way to cross) . This means that pedestrians have to walk into oncoming traffic for longer. they need to take down some of the barriers. The builders are also incredibly combative about this, having - as previously mentioned - aggressively put zip ties around the barriers to stop pedestrians crossing more safely. It is completely unacceptable.

Where the barriers stop, even if they shouldn't, people cross to the median, and there is a clear gap in the vegetation there. What isn't immediately clear is that there is also ankle height wire fencing there which makes a perfect trip hazard. In the worst case, someone could trip into the path of oncoming traffic. This is incredibly unsafe.
