Hazardous road to cross

Reported anonymously at 23:24, Sat 29 September 2018

Sent to Bristol City Council 1 minute later

Crossing Hill View at its junction with Southmead Road is extremely hazardous because of poor design of the junction, which makes it impossible for pedestrians crossing in an East to West direction to see any traffic coming from Southmead Road or Wellington Hill West. Many people crossing the read at this point are elderly, on their way to/from the shops in Wellington Hill West. Ideally the junction should be redesigned to narrow it and prevent traffic turning into Hill View at high speed (as it does at present). The Council may find other ways of making the crossing safer.

Updates

  • Hill View, at its junction with Southmead Road, is a hazardous roads to cross because of poor layout of the junction resulting in poor view of oncoming traffic, particularly when walking in an E to W direction along Southmead Road. Many pedestrians walk this way, particularly on their way to the shops on Wellington Hill West and the bus stop on Southmead Road (between Hill View and Broadleys Avenue).
