Wooden flower containers obstructing traffic

Reported in the Obstruction category anonymously at 21:52, Fri 18 January 2019

Sent to Bristol City Council 3 minutes later

There are several wooden container filled with earth and flowers randomly put in the road no doubt to slow traffic. There are very hard to see at night and do not have the correct signage or advance warning to avoid a collision. They look home made.

They seem highly likely to cause an accident, they have no left or right arrows or any thing like that on them.

  • The planters have been installed for many months, and are a measure to reduce traffic speed in the road. Traffic monitoring reports have shown that the planters have been an effective means of reducing traffic speed.

The planters have not been 'randomly put in the road'. The locations were decided by local residents after taking into consideration expert guidance on traffic calming. The planters were installed with the consent of Bristol City Council.

There are reflectors on the planters to help motorists to see them well before reaching each planter.
