You may need to reconsider this as I have just driven past (07:48 1st March 2019) and the break-up of the road surface is worse than when it damaged my car 2 weeks ago. This is a Manhole cover that is halfway round a corner in the direct wheel track of hundreds of HGVs that bounce over it every day. I believe originally this was on a traffic island, but when the carriageway was realigned to make room for a cycle path, it was covered with about 100mm of tarmac, which has broken up due to the constant pounding. This has happened to a large number of manhole covers along Smoke Lane and St Andrews Road in the last 2 years.
