Paving- Johnny Ball Lane
Reported in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 15:55, Wed 13 February 2019
Sent to Bristol City Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1542922.
I am concerned about some serious defects in the paving along Johnny Ball Lane at the point where it turns the corner behind the building known as Tower House.
It came to my attention as I am the joint owner of the Tower House which backs onto the lane and we have noticed water ingress into the back of our building in the same area of the damaged pavings which has now become quite an issue for us. Although I am a Chartered Surveyor I have taken a second opinion from our contractor and it is clear the water ingress is coming from Johnny Ball Lane, which is the council's responsibility.
Another worry is the state of the paving which is definitely a trip hazard being on a corner and in a dimly lit pedestrian walkway and I attach a few photographs for your attention. More of a danger is that it appears to be more than just a case of rebedding the slabs as there is clearly a void beneath the area which could be due to subsidence or collapsed drains beneath, which could be the reason for the water ingress at lower level within our building.
This is in need of urgent attention and I would be grateful to receive your earliest reply and confirmation of what measures you will be taking to attend to the collapse beneath the pavings and the repair. I would also invite you to contact me to arrange to visit our property to see the area of water damage.
