Spire Hospital Wall - When will this pavement by reopened ?
Reported in the General Highways Enquiry category anonymously at 12:16, Fri 8 March 2019
Sent to Bristol City Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1565619.
The pavement adjacent to the Spire Hospital Wall on Redland Hill has been out of action for about 2 years now. There is a temporary bollarded walkway in place which is far too narrow for buggy users, wheelchairs etc and regularly collapses, drains badly and is unsightly. I live very close by and need to push my baby twins in a double buggy which cannot fit between the temporary bollards. These roadworks force me, and many others, to have to cross the road further up from Durdham Park to Grove Road in a very dangerous position without the benefit of the zebra crossing and where cars regularly drive too fast leading in to the roudabout. It's particularly dangerous in dark and wet conditions. I'm genuinely really concerned my buggy will get driven into. We have put up with these roadworks for such a long time now with no information for residents of when this will be resolved. Combined with the various other road works at this part of Redland Hill that have taken place and also the large development taking place of Queen Victoria House opposite, this location has become very dangerous for pedestrians. Please note I will be contacting my local councillor regarding this matter.

I witnessed an elderly man pushing an elderly woman in a wheelchair on the road for several hundred yards due to the footpath being closed and all the bollards haven fallen over. The opposite footpath was also shut in places due to tree felling but they could not cross any way due to traffic. I am amazed they were not hit. This footpath has been closed for 2 years. Spire hospital must have a legal responsibility to maintain their boundary wall?

Why are Bristol City Council not providing an adequate response to these concerns? Will they wait for somebody to be injured before taking any action?

Hellloooo Bristol City Council..... what is the point of ‘fix’ my street when these concerns are not addressed or even acknowledged. Is pedestrian safety not a responsibility for BCC or Spire Hospital? Am now talking to Bristol post to see if they want to run an article.

Why has this repair taken over 3 and half years? I would like to make a formal complaint about the way BCC has handled this pavement closure.

Sadly I have made complaints to both Spire Hospital and Bristol City Council, no response from either !
