Reporting that the public cycle path that runs from Craydon road through to Whitchurch village is a disgrace! The pathway is not lit which is a danger to the public and increases risk of criminal activity after sun down. My children are too afraid to use the path after dark and to be honest without the use of mobile phone torches, I am not at ease with using it. The path way is not maintained, the path is very slim as shrubbery/weeds and over growth has taken over the path! Constant dog fouling all over the path and there are no patrols in the area catching the dog owners. The lane is also prone to fly tippers! This pathway is used by many many people. The pathway is an important walkway through to Whitchurch leading out on to Bristol Road. School children need to use this pathway twice a day and its a miracle if they can make it through without treading in dog mess! There is a constant bad smell when walking through the lane. The lane NEEDS to be maintained, the adjoining lane running parallel to Sturminister Road IS maintained twice a year with the grass edges and trees/bushes being trimmed, it has (poor) lighting and a properly layed tarmac path but this lane in question has been overlooked. It may have fallen under the radar as it was once not used very often however times have changed, population growth means that children in Stockwood are being allocated Whitchurch Primary School which as it has no parking, NEED to walk to school and this is the only convenient lane. Please can you make the lane safe. Provide lighting, manage the lane by monitoring/trimmimg the overgrowth when required. There needs to be a patrol officer monitoring dog fouling, no deterrent means repeating dog owners leaving mess all over the path. There is a young child registered blind who uses the lane and his aid stick is constantly covered in dog mess or being caught up in the weeds/overgrowth. Please please improve our childrens walk to and from school and many other users who walk the path every day.
