Pavement needs filling outside school entrance
Reported in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 09:47, Sun 12 May 2019
Sent to Bristol City Council 13 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1627149.
Have discussed issue with Chester Park junior school as parents would be abusive during school drop off, when trying to get car off drive, although being extremely careful. Only option to prevent accident was to remove/reduce hedges around garden, increasing visibility of children and passing pedestrians. This has left a large, uneven area in the footpath which requires tarmac, directly outside of the school entrance.

Hi,
The uneven area has been filled with a grit bin. This is not an ideal solution as the bin now protrudes equally as far as the hedge, leaving little room for children/pedestrians to pass, particularly during the school rush. I have discussed this with the school head teacher and it is agreed that the grit bin would be useful, but needs to be situated in a different location, possibly back on to the grass, just to the left of the current position. The uneven patch will then also need repairing, as per the original report.
Kind regards
Warren Lane

The uneven area has now been covered with a grit bin. While I am sure the grit will be important in the winter months the placement of the bin is providing a potential hazard for adults and students arriving at and exiting from the school site. The bin makes it difficult to pass therefore increasing the likelihood of needing to walk in the road. A lot of work has gone into improving the safety in this area for children and I think it necessary that the bin is moved to ensure that the space surrounding the entrance of the school is sufficient. It will then be necessary to tarmac the area so that it is not a trip hazard.
