Assault by cyclist in NON CYCLING LANE
Reported in the General Highways Enquiry category anonymously at 20:07, Mon 15 July 2019
Sent to Bristol City Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1697366.
Lane/path between Phoenix Grove and Henleaze Park. Cyclists constantly race through the lane, winding around/through pedestrians. This has been a problem for a very long time. Last Friday a woman cyclist with a metal dog walking attachment (and her dog...so a wide load) rode up the lane with no intention of stopping, came towards myself and sister in the lane. As she tried to squeeze past us, we told her that cycling was not allowed. She stopped, steadied her bike, gave me a hefty thump on my shoulder and and calmly rode off. I think there is a safety issue to be considered in this lovely local lane. It is a much used route on the school run. Maybe more of the overlapping railings are needed in the lane to at least slow the cyclists down. Large more visible signs are needed, as the old, small No Cycling sign has been removed as it was only clipped on. What about a sign warning that children and or elderly people may be in the vicinity. Something has to change, as this assault has added another dimension to the illegally racing cyclist problem. The incident has been reported to the police, they advised contacting the council.
