Blaise Castle Water We took our six month Springer spaniel puppy Bob for a walk at Blaise Castle Bristol last Monday and he entered an unfenced green algae pond up to his knees and we immediately took him out and washed him in a stream , where children where playing in the water! We moved up to Blaise Castle and walked back down an hour later. On the way down we saw a small A4 sign (which was knee high on a small fence where the children were paddling which was covered on the way up as parents were standing in front of it whilst watching their children paddling!) the sign read something like ‘ Bristol City Council had received reports of suspected water quality which had not been proven’ ! We retuned to our daughters in Bristol as we were visiting from Devon . Overnight Bob our dog had vomited blue vomit followed by diarrhoea with blood in it, we returned home then with our sick puppy and took him to our local vet who immediately put him on a drip. He has been on a drip for 3 days and had awful diarrhoea and listless and we were all so worried and upset. He finally came off the drip yesterday and showed sign of improvement and hopefully will be home soon, today being Saturday. I would like to hear from anyone who has similar problems at Blaise and we will be writing to Bristol Council to ask why these ponds aren’t fully fenced off and why signs aren’t put up at bottom and top access points to the stream and walk! One dog died and another very sick and our puppy we so very nearly lost! This must be looked into!
