Loud bang from utility cover

Reported in the Utlility Covers category anonymously at 07:22, Sun 15 September 2019

Sent to Bristol City Council 1 day, 8 hours, 33 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1767720.

It seems the metal cover to the hole is loose or not put on correctly. Whenever a car drives over it, it makes a loud noise. It’s getting worse and has now started to wake my children up through the night. It wakes me up most mornings. Southmead rd is a busy rd so there is never any let up! I would appreciate someone coming to look please.

  • I have been hearing this noise since summer. It also wakes me up. It has definitely got worse. It sounds like a gun shot. Looking at the cover, it looks very dangerous as if a car might actually fall down it soon.

  • I first reported this issue early September. The problem is getting worse! Southmead Road is unbelievably busy with ridiculously HEAVY transport and I fear something more disastrous will happen if the problem is not fixed, as a matter of URGENCY.!!! A motorcyclist, cyclist could soon find themselves flying through the air - and only a couple of yards away is a pedestrian crossing. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, with potentially awful consequences.
