Loose manhole cover on main road

Reported in the Utlility Covers category anonymously at 12:32, Sun 27 October 2019

Sent to Bristol City Council 3 minutes later

After the new road works on A4 this manhole has been very noisy and is quite loose. Its in a main road with hundreds of cars passing through every day and this happens in almost every single car that goes by. Could the cover be replaced please, the noise is really very loud.

  • The noise from this manhole has worsened over the past month and is now even more disruptive every time a car crosses it, waking us up almost every night. We're sure the contractors are busy please could this be escalated as a priority as it has been going on for some time and is becoming really difficult to live with. Thank you.

  • Anyone replying or reading this which is also being affected, according to fixmystreet FAQ:

"You can also leave an update on your FixMyStreet report page, but note that updates are not forwarded to the council. They are intended as a place for residents to discuss local problems and offer advice or support.

With this in mind, you may wish to both update your report on the site, and contact your council via email."

PS: I opened this issue (quite a while back). In order to "maybe" get it fixed quicker, either raise another issue similar to this so a new request is sent or report directly to the council tax. I've done both. The more people reporting it the better.

  • Still appears to be an issue. Practically leaps out of its cradle when a lorry or bus drives over it

  • The "attempt" to fix the problem didn't last 48 hours. It is again starting to leap out and becoming noisier by the day.

  • Unfortunately despite the attempted repair last week the noise has returned just as badly as before, and is just as disruptive. Please review this for a permanent solution as a matter of urgency.
