Road flooding yet again due to blocked drains on Southmead Road
Reported via iOS in the Flooding category anonymously at 20:48, Wed 13 November 2019
Sent to Bristol City Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1845137.
It’s been raining heavily and because the drains on Southmead Road are blocked and inadequate anyway the road has flooded yet again specifically outside of number 590 ish. I report it most years but this time there is a man out in the rain and pitch black trying to unblock the drain as I type this, being splashed by huge bow waves from some cars and honked by others. People are now risking themselves to solve the problem you (the council) can’t be bothered to address. I don’t know who he is but I don’t think there’s much he can do really with a broom. He’s probably trying to prevent his property being flooded as the huge waves created by cars flood the pavement and are sometimes high enough to flood front gardens. I see it year after year and wish you would simply improve the drains along this stretch of Southmead Road as it is only a matter of time before someone is hurt either by a car aquaplaning or trying to get out of the way of a huge wave when cars pass at speed, which they do constantly.
