Proposed not retarring of 13 square metres
Reported in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 16:33, Sat 30 November 2019
Sent to Bristol City Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1869334.
Many footpaths on Christchurch Green are painted with yellow codes apparently to delineate a forthcoming safety tar coating – this is most sensible in that it will fill cracks that can be further cracked by water icing in cold weather. On Christchurch Green opposite the “bus number 8” bus stop there is approximately 13 square metres of currently very poor-quality tarmac that is marked to be surface tarred.
I suggest that this area should not be tarred but regrassed because (a) it is not a pavement, (b) it was laid there I understand for military parking reasons during WW2 (or possibly earlier), (c) having no curb stones, it can attract cars to park on the Green, and (d) it can better be dug up and returned to be grass for green reasons.
