CATV inspection cover not repaired despite being listed as fixed.
Reported in the Utlility Covers category anonymously at 12:21, Sun 1 December 2019
Sent to Bristol City Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1869849.
Virgin cable inspection cover still not fixed since 3rd September despite being listed as fixed 29th November 2019 (ref 1754060). The Council should be aware that the surrounding ceramic tiles are a hazard in themselves - not just because they are breaking up - they become extremely dangerous in the wet and ice - I have slipped on these and broken an arm and now avoid this type of sloping pavement. There are similar ones along Alma Road.

This now a public safety issue and if it persists someone is going to be seriously hurt especially at night when it cannot be seen properly and you will be sued!

When when when when...? I was told by the Council last September it was Virgin who are responsible. My experience of Virgin has been dreadful if you ask them to fix anything. If they are responsible, they need to be sued for negligence by the Council as it's the Council who will end up getting sued if someone injures themselves. However, the ceramic tiles surrounding it are surely the Council's responsibility - and there are many along and near Alma Road that urgently need replacing with something that isn't slippery when wet.

We've referred the issue externally for appropriate action to be taken, as it's not something Bristol City Council is responsible for.

I was told by the Council that Virgin were informed months ago. They should be fined, if not sued for causing an obstruction on the public footpath. The Council is responsible for the ceramic tiles that are a continuing hazard on many corners in the Alma Road area. I have slipped on them in the wet and previously broken my arm - luckily I mended OK, but it could have been a lot worse. There are so many uneven slabs and other trip hazards generally in this area, it's a disgrace.
