Blocked drainage grill opposite 64 Gordon Rd, BS5
Reported in the Gully/Drainage category by Anthony Press at 14:02, Thu 5 December 2019
Sent to Bristol City Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1876115.
Drain blocked for months, and reported weeks ago to Wessex Water in the summer. Wessex state it is the responsibility of the local authority. Reported to local authority 4 weeks ago, mysteriously closed today. The problem has not been fixed - closing it is not the required action: fixing it is. Closing the report does not fix it!

For the avoidance of doubt, I reported this to Bristol Water who investigated this issue within 3days and confirmed that water tests found no trace of chlorine to indicate that the running water is from a pipe leak. Bristol Water confirmed there is a high water table at this location and that the drain is either blocked or does not have the capacity to cope with the water flowing into it.
Bristol City Council need to take action to address this matter as a matter of urgency as the water presents a risk to cyclists and pedestrians. This will become especially critically as the road temperature drops and the water turns to black ice.

The excessive water is caused by the run-off from Rose Green sports field drainage. At this time of year it is made worse by leaves which are swept into the gutter. Successive poor quality road surface replacement means that the gutter area progressively catches the leaves. I have removed leaves from that area three times in recent weeks to allow better flow of rainwater.
