2 potholes approx 1foot in diameter and both getting deep
Reported in the General Highways Enquiry category anonymously at 12:34, Sun 22 December 2019
Sent to Bristol City Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1901300.
Potholes have been evident for a couple of weeks but in the past few days have increased i size and depth with the wet wather. both are at the base of the hill where cars turn from Cranbrook road and and pose a risk as cars and vans swerve to avoid damaging tyres. These potholes appear every year and need more thorough repair.

Two very deep potholes that are causing cars to swerve and are a danger to cyclists as well as a risk to damaging suspension and vehicle tyres. This section of road at the bottom of Kersteman road probably needs a complete redo but these potholes are urgent.

Not only are the potholes very deep, the road is now littered with debris - large chunks of stone or tarmac, possibly originating from within the pothole. This is a particular risk for cyclists who are coming down a steep hill - and the road is used by children going to school on their bikes.

The two potholes have now become three potholes! They are deep and dangerous and are probably causing damage to cars travelling up and down the road. There are large lumps of road strewn all over the road. How many emails do the council need to be sent before action is taken?! There is going to be an accident soon! The road needs to properly resurfaced ASAP!!!

The road surface is in a very dangerous state. It needs to be closed until repair work carried out.

To reiterate, this is getting worse daily. Last night, the potholes were full of rain and thus invisible to oncoming cars. I saw 1 car drive through the deep pothole unknowingly. This is a really busy road area, with loads of kids going up and down for the neighbouring secondary and also a good amount of primary aged children too. Flying stones have the potential to harm a significant amount of people. Please address ASAP. Additionally, Cranbrook road at the bottom of the hill (where Kersteman crosses it) has small holes too now which should be addressed at the same time.

Hi, I was doing the school run yesterday morning and hit the pothole, it has damaged my car (some thing is vibrating under my car), its very upsetting and don't know what the damage cost will be, please can some one sort this pothole out.

The danger created by these potholes has been reported repeatedly, yet nothing is being done. Well done Bristol City Council, well up to your normal performance. The comment about claims exceeding the cost of the work is very apposite, but somebody could easily be injured by a vehicle swerving to avoid these potholes.

I have now raised this with Councillor Martin Fodor and suggest others do the same. He is normally very responsive. cllr.martin.fodor@bristol.gov.uk
I know the council is strapped for cash, but this has the potential to seriously injure a cyclist if they hit it at speed coming down the road and I would rather my council tax was spent on an urgent repair than on a million pound compensation settlement for a broken neck.

Idiotically a patch repair has been done - on one side of the road only! The large and small pothole on the uphill side haven't been touched. The quality of what has been done is so poor that I very much doubt it will last the month. Did the workers run out of material, time, or commonsense? Aren't I glad that my Council Tax is used so prudently!

I went down there yesterday in Thursday on a motorbike
It was lethal...if I hadn't already known it was there I'd have been off
I've motorbiked in India and African....holes this big and for this long are simply unacceptable. Why have reporting technology when you don't repair!

As the person who first raised the issue of the pot holes on 22nd December, I have now raised a formal complaint with the council .

This is an absolute disgrace. As per other comments, these potholes are extremely deep and dangerous, why has no action been taken?? Both of our cars have had the tracking knocked out when we've been unable to avoid these potholes as the road is so busy. Pedestrians and cyclists are at risk and I strongly implore the council to fix inordinately before a serious accident happens. I have just seen these again this morning, Sunday 19th Jan and they are getting worse.

As already reported in this series of posts, a partial repair was carried out on Fri, but only on one side of the road and then of poor quality. Councillor Hance, the other Redland Ward councillor, intends to chase the issue tomorrow (Monday).

The patches that were done on these potholes 2 weeks ago are already beginning to break up. This really needs a thorough resurfacing. Longer term, the road ay this junction needs to be re-contoured, to make it less prone to damage from HGVs.

I drive past this afternoon and the potholes are already appearing again as per previous citizens comment. There is a large pot hole already present going up the hill which vehicles will swerve to avoid. Please rectify immediately BCC, these temporary fixes are insufficient and a thorough resurfacing is required before a major accident happens.
