Large depressions in road.
Reported in the Carriageway Defect category anonymously at 15:42, Mon 13 January 2020
Sent to Bristol City Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1935064.
Large depressions in road. I note that these have been reported more than once over a period of months but no action has yet been taken. The depressions are widening, lengthening and getting deeper each day indicative of a failure at sub-grade level rather than just in the upper bound pavement layers. The depressions are now of such a depth that they do constitute a serious hazard to all road users, not just in terms of damage to vehicles but the potential to cause personal injury, and need to be addressed as a matter of urgency. There are also a couple of small potholes in the vicinity of the Downend Road junction where the surface course has broken away which will need to be patched soon to prevent water ingress and consequent further deterioration.

I am a motorcyclist and live locally, I used Muller Road for the first in some time and unexpectedly and unfortunately hit these depressions, I have never experienced such a shameful and dam right dangerous road condition on a main road in all my years of riding... I see this has been reported over month, the local authority has a responsibility to ensure these dangerous holes are repaired. I would have sued if any damage to me or my bike would have accured.

Driving past this morning I see that white lines have been sprayed at the corners of the depressions, so something may be happening soon! I also noticed that one of the small potholes at the Downend Rd junction had been neatly filled, but others hadn't. Small steps....

This pothole is extremely dangerous, it's terrifying to drive over in my two-seater Smart car. Please take action ASAP.

Still there, saw a fire engine on an emergency call hit these potholes the other day, looked like it was going to topple over!! Ambulances regularly use this route too, can't be much good for the patients.

So, about 7 weeks since I first reported this and I note that there are a number of other reports of the same carriageway defect on the system. The white lines that were sprayed a few weeks back are now beginning to fade and still no visible action. I assume that you aim to follow the UKRLG Code of Practice for Highway Maintenance "Well Maintained Highways" under which this defect would surely be rated as Category 1 requiring at least temporary making safe within 24 hours. if you have determined that it is Category 2, i.e. that it can wait, then you should have undertaken a risk assessment to support that decision. That would make interesting reading!

This is just a matter of time before an accident happens.
I was nearly knocked off my bike when a car that was passing me hit one of these depressions, momentarily loosing all control.
It is getting worse every day.
