Rocking manhole cover, very loud and possibly dangerous?
Reported in the Utlility Covers category by Lucy conroy at 14:22, Mon 27 January 2020
Sent to Bristol City Council 13 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1963501.
There are 3 old manhole covers here, 1 was fixed some time ago but now another is rocking, the noise it makes is so loud, it's not right outside my house but now I can hear it from every room. I feel sorry for the people who live closer to it. I've been informed that these covers are not in use anymore so can't they just be filled in? Surely it would be safer and, of course prevent this dreadfull noise pollution. Also, surely there is a safety issue here?

I was in this area on Sun 2nd Feb and yesterday Sat 22nd Feb, door-knocking as a candidate for the May 2020 elections. The noise from the loose manhole cover persists. It is irritating and frequent. It makes a loud noise every time a vehicle passes over it - if is a significant noise nuisance to nearby houses and has been reported by many people. Would it be possible to have an update on this

On my daily excercise this morning all three sets of covers were clanging so loudly, I had to cover my ears. This problem, apart from one botched repair has been going on for three years at least. The excuse that the owners have to be notified, when it says clearly on two of them VODAPHONE, is rubbish. I live 100 metres away in the next street and I hear it all night. What does it take to get this job done?

Two of these covers have been marked in green. Presumably prior to repair. However, one that is also making an awful noise hasn’t been marked. You can hear the noise all over the estate and it’s a total disturbance. If it was outside a councillor’s house it would have been repaired long ago.
