Dangerous breakup of carriageway
Reported in the Carriageway Defect category anonymously at 16:59, Mon 3 February 2020
Sent to Bristol City Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1976927.
Particularly dangerous to cyclists. Also causes vehicles to swerve to avoid area causing further problems. I reported this some weeks ago and was very concerned that it was not considered serious enough to be dealt with then. It was obvious then that it would get worse very quickly. I note that another report has been raised further down the road at the junction with Chock lane and a job has been raised. Is this the same issue? If not will this get done at the same time? I also noticed contractors working a few yards on further down Waters Lane today, will they be dealing with this problem at the same time?

These potholes have deteriorated very rapidly over the past week or so. I agree with the original poster - this is especially dangerous for cyclists because it is on a downhill slope, across the whole of the lane, and on a narrow patch of road. You have to either cycle through them and risk coming off on a fast section of road, or attempt to swerve them by heading towards oncoming traffic and into the path of cars that are trying to overtake you. I cycle across the city to work, and this is the most dangerous series of potholes I've come across.

This is yet another example of BCCs failure to fix problems putting cyclists lives at risk. This was raised as dangerous to cyclists on 31-Dec-19 (1912331) but wasn't fixed. I hit the hole a week later in the dark and rain and whilst I managed to stay on the bike it caused significant and expensive damage to my bike. It was then reported as being fixed but as you will see from the attached photos is most certainly isn't. Come on BCC, fix these problems before someone gets seriously injured or worse
