This lane is the only access to the school for parents/ school visitors/ staff members/ Bristol city council to collect the recycling and waste/ food delivery to our kitchen/ goods delivery- between the hours of 09:10-15:00pm, This lane Is dangerous to anyone who enters the lane, either by walking with infants in their pushchair, to cyclists who navigate the lane avoiding the numerous large potholes. The potholes are visible during the day but not during the dark winter evenings. Cyclists are risking their physical welfare for the sakes of the environment! The lane is used by parents who use a wheelchair and or have reduced mobility! There isn’t a pavement to use, only a grass embankment, so you have no choice but to use the terrible pot holed lane. It is only a matter of time before someone is going to get hurt! The school cannot open the school front gates to allow parents or visitors to access the school as this would breach our safety protocol that is there to protect our children, therefore all people/visitors/parents must use the the lane clearly labelled on a big metal Grey Bristol city council sign stating “Ashton Vale Primary School Kitchen access”. The lane is almost impossible to navigate through unless by car. The lane is quickly becoming an injury claim waiting to happen, especially to our disabled or less mobile parents! Personally, the large pot holes have caused 2 slow punctures to my car! Something I do not except as I pay my taxes! I believe the damage is caused by the councils large recycling trucks that use the lane to Pick up the recycling and waste from the school. The recycling/council trucks cannot use private lanes, yet they use this lane to collect the rubbish, so how can the lane not be owned by the council if they access this lane once a week to collect our recycling and waste? Please can you correct this problem that is over 1 years old!
