Noisy Manhole cover-still not fixed

Reported in the Utlility Covers category by lucy conroy at 09:26, Friday 14 February 2020

Sent to Bristol City Council 6 minutes later

This utility cover in the middle of the road near my house is rocking and is incredibly noisy, It disturbs me, and other residents day and night. It is on the road outside Marksbury Libary on Bedminster Road. I have been in touch with vodafone about it, I was told on the phone that it now belongs to Openreach, I contacted openreach who were very helpful, they sent an engineer straight out and he confirmed its nothing to do with openreach (it says Vodafone on the cover) I'm assuming this is an old, un-used cover which is why nobody wants to take responsibility for it? I have reported this to the council many times and have put a verbal complaint in to vodafone, I have also just filled out an online complaint to vodafone, I would encourage others to do this, www.vodafone.co.uk/complaints. I'm also just about to start looking into noise pollution laws.

  • Hi there. Any update on this please? Last update was 26th March. The reason I am chasing is because this is one of many reports raised for this issue and very little has been done in the past other than closing the record and marking it as fixed. I think we would all like some confirmation that something will be done. The sound from that cover is unbelievably loud and should be treated as urgent. I live a street away and can clearly hear it .. I feel so sorry for the people that live right next to it. I know Coronavirus will be impacting the speed at which you can get things done .. but I don't see this as a huge job, and it is certainly much more important than the few pot holes that we covered over on a nearby road this week. Please share an update asap. Many thanks
