Obstruction of pavement

Reported in the Obstruction category anonymously at 08:11, Tuesday 10 March 2020

Sent to Bristol City Council 5 minutes later

The pavement at the junction of Okebourne Road and Brentry Lane is dangerously reduced by intrusive hedges reducing the footpath from 180cm to 80cm which is over half the width allowing room for only one foot passenger at a time, this results in both adults of all ages, mums with pushchairs and children walking in the road exposing them to danger at a junction that is blind to all drivers turning from either direction from Brentry Lane into Okebourne Road. This is a route that is used to gain access to both a Primary school and to a Childrens Centre, As the leaves re-appear on the hedges the footpath will be even narrower. The situation is also made worse by the parking of vehicles on the pavement at this junction,. This an accident waiting to happen

  • You have to wonder at the efficiency of this system (Fix MyStreet)and its cost to the Councils Tax Payers of Bristol the response to this issue posted on the 23rd March 2020 has no relevance to the nature of the issue subject of the complaint, it is overgrown hedges that cannot be 'temporarily repaired' nothing has been done to make the area safe . The right hand pavement as you walk down Okebourne Road towards Brentry lane is still reduced to 80cms wide when it should be 1.8 metres wide and foot passengers with children and pushchairs and prams are still forced to walk in the road. Will something be done when an accident occurs causing personal injury to a foot passenger. I have drawn the totally inadequate response from Fix my street to the attention of the local Councillors.

  • There are now two complaints in relation to this issue and the danger it is exposing pedestrians in particular young children and people with prams and pushchairs , let alone the disabled ( no room for wheelchairs). With the adjacent primary school and chidren's centre re-opening shortly this should be addressed as a high priority issue
