Phasing all over the place
Reported in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 15:02, Thu 24 April 2008
Sent to Bristol City Council 1 minute later
I've cycled home from the Stapleton direction via the Muller road / M32 roundabout for the past 20 years, and, apart from the usual cars in the advance box, to add to my problems the light phasing has now been changed so that I have even more trouble than usual getting to the second set of lights without being dangerously cut up by cars. (the second set changes to green too early - thus encouraging the car drivers.)
My suspicion is that this is to solve a new traffic situation further along the road.

The situation is still as it was.
I've now noticed that cars coming from the Muller road (west) direction are treating the pedestrian crossing green light to the east as a cue to charge through very late on amber. All in all a cyclist's nightmare and I don't want to have to take the wimp's way out and use the underpass.

The phasing now appears to be different every time I reach the lights .... now not a junction for the inexperienced cyclist - and motorists' behaviour jumping the lights and invading the advance box is as bad as ever.
Perhaps bristol's new cycling award will start to make some changes to enforcement.Posted anonymously at 18:30, Sat 21 June 2008
