Cycle icon with arrow pointing towards zebra crossing

Reported in the Road Signage category anonymously at 20:02, Wed 17 June 2020

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2160905.

Cycle icon with arrow pointing towards the zebra crossing, this encourages cyclists to cycle straight across the zebra crossing without dismounting. Cyclists fly out from the cycle path straight into the zebra crossing and motorist do not have time to stop. Rule 79 Of the Highway Code states “ Do not ride across a pelican, puffin or zebra crossing. Dismount and wheel your cycle across.”

I’m a licensed taxi driver and nearly hit a cyclist that flew across without dismounting today that’s what prompted me to report this, luckily I was going up hill so could stop easier, however had I been coming down the hill I would have had less time to see the cyclist and my stopping times would have been increased and I would not have been able to stop in time.

Please put a sign asking cyclists to dismount I’m worried someone will get hurt soon. Thanks
