Sunken manhole cover.
Reported in the Carriageway Defect category anonymously at 13:02, Mon 13 July 2020
Sent to Bristol City Council 1 hour, 35 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 2198054.
This pothole caused damage to the inside of my campervan when I drove over it on Saturday July 11th. A heatproof glass panel on the wall of the van above the stove shattered sending shards of glass all over the van. I had just started up from the traffic lights so it was at a very low speed that I hit the hole. This will now cost me to replace the panel. I hold the council responsible for the repairs as it is obvious that the problem has been there for quite some time. Can you please explain why this has not been fixed.

This has been reported to the council a number of times. This is the response from yourselves when I reported the problem. “We've referred the issue externally for appropriate action to be taken, as it's not something Bristol City Council is responsible for”. This is a dangerous sunken manhole which is causing vehicles to swerve to avoid it and is causing damage to vehicles that do not see it. If a cycle or motorbike were to hit this sunken manhole it could cause a serious collision. Please can the council chase this with the external provider or advice who the external provider is so that this can be progressed.
