The row of buildings, containing the Merchants Arms and The Vet have been hit 8 times in the last 10 years. An elderly gentleman was killed on the crossing last year. It is a very fast section of the A4. When the pavement was modernised recently, part of the job was to install railings, but this was cancelled as the job went over budget. Please make this corner and footpath safe.

This section of road is really dangerous and railings are most definitely required to help make it safer for pedestrians, residents and customers of the affected businesses. Drivers do take the corner far too quickly - often to get through either sets of traffic lights before they change. I've also frequently see cars turn out of the small road to the left of the pub (facing it) in the wrong direction driving towards ongoing (one-way!) traffic. This heightens the risk of a serious collision right at the point where railings are needed.

This definitely needs looking into. Especially as people have got a bit more relaxed in lockdown - I spotted an elderly gentleman heading to the pavement without using the crossing yesterday. Railings would make people and cars safer in every way.

Railings are really important along this stretch of road to protect pedestrians as cars take the corner very fast.
