Stagnant smelly water slow to drain away

Reported in the Gully/Drainage category by Lucy Tuck at 10:16, Tue 25 August 2020

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

A mini lake of stagnant foul smelling water was across the sunken seating area in front of Catherine's House yesterday. This morning is slowly drained away to reveal a drain that was clearly blocked. Surrounding this area is a disused underpass that has been an unhygienic stagnant water 'feature' for at least the 2 and a half years I have been here.

  • Litter and stagnant water have been an issue in this underpass for over 2 years. The sitting water gets cleared out about twice a year, the rest of the time it creates an awful stench. I have seen people now just throw cans and rubbish in the underpass as it is never cleared.

  • This is getting A LOT WORSE QUICKLY.

The smell is getting stronger, and with the expected rain, things are only going to get worse. Please send someone soon.

  • Drain remains blocked. Issue now chronic.

This needs to be looked into - and the underpass is very likely a contributor. It is very smelly.

  • Water stench is increasing. I'm on the first floor over-looking this stagnant pool of water and the smell is getting worse. I even hear people commenting on the smell as they walk past. Please update this post BCC side.

  • Still blocked and producing an awful stench. Perhaps you can sort the underpass next to it too.
