Horrendous smell coming from drains

Reported in the Gully/Drainage category anonymously at 19:36, Sunday 20 September 2020

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

There is a very obnoxious smell coming from the drain(s) outside 19-21 Chessel Street. We moved to the area a little while ago, and it's been present and unattended the whole time. It's now so severe that we can smell it in the back gardens.

  • This problem is getting WORSE. Fecal matter is a known carrier of all of the worst diseases known to man. If I can smell it this strongly just walking to my door, that means everyone on this street are LITERALLY BREATHING THE CITY’S SHIT, EVERY SECOND OF EVERY DAY. This is utterly disgusting. This means that the sewage is STAGNATING in this pipe; and if it smells this strongly is close enough to street level to overflow at the next major rain. This is DISGUSTING and needs to be fixed immediately. Not a single person working for the city would stand for this occurring outside their house, so why has this health hazard been left without investigation or full repair? GET SOMEONE OUT TO FIX THIS.
