Traffic lights slow dangerous for pedestrians
Reported via mobile in the General Highways Enquiry category anonymously at 15:23, Fri 30 October 2020
Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2364191.
The traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing at the end of castle park are still set for busy streets although are now hardly used by cars. Pedestrians have to wait for excessive time, often become impatient and cross anyway this is very dangerous on this three way street. Change the lighting pattern to favour pedestrians crossing.

Hi, this junction has been designed in a way that caters for heavy traffic flows, with up to 4 different stages in the traffic signal sequence. Unfortunately, because of this, it is not possible to change the sequence and reduce waiting times without making physical changes to the signals and junction layout. Changes like this are not possible at this time when the bus gate measures are only set as a temporary measures under a trial period. Should the trial be seen as successful and made permanent then we will look to redesign the junction to reflect its new usage, with a far higher priority given to pedestrians and cyclists. Kind regards, The Traffic Signals Team

That’s good news, fingers crossed for February. Maybe some additional signage would be useful before this date
