Blocked drain on corner Wellgarth Road off Broadwalk Road
Reported via desktop in the Gully/Drainage category anonymously at 10:00, Sat 19 December 2020
Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2438974.
This blocked drain has been reported to local Bristol City councillors for over 5 years along with 2 Bristol mayors, Due to soil corrosion at the back of the drain, earth and mud has been getting into the back of the drain and blocking the drain. The ground at the back of the drain has sunk so bad, when it rains a void in the ground fills up with water. Wellgarth Road floods badly, the road surface has been breaking up badly. To the best of my knowledge a hired lorry has been sent to try and unblock the drain. A pipe is put into the drain and high pressurised water is forced into the drain. It clears the blockage, but is only a quick fix. and the drain again becomes blocked. About 9 months ago i sent pictures of the blocked drain in Wellgarth Road. No remedial action has been taken to rectify the blocked drain. It is a utter disgrace what is happening at Wellgarth Road. We have just had lots of rain and Wellgarth Road is flooded badly, people find it hard to cross the road, they have to find a safe place to cross. When road vehicles go through the road, big sprays of water goes up in the air.
