Street needs to be closed to motor vehicles

Reported via desktop anonymously at 08:17, Tue 22 December 2020

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2442673.

St Marks Road is a community asset, and should be treated as such. It needs to be saved for the whole community, not just the selfish few who choose to drive through it. It is a rat run, and is choked by parked cars and delivery vehicles. Local businesses would be greatly helped if the street were more people friendly and a nicer place to spend time. After all, people spend money, not cars. Timed access for delivery vehicles and controlled bollards to allow residents and emergency vehicles access would mean all businesses could operate as normal, but the street would become the thriving community space it should be.

  • They've managed this on Princess Victoria Street, and on Cotham Hill, with businesses thriving as a result. Time for the business of St Marks Road to benefit too!

  • Many other streets in the region, such as Cotham Hill, Upper Corn Street and Boyce's Avenue have successfully removed through traffic for the benefit of local people and businesses - these have all proved a big success, popular with shoppers and businesses alike. It's time for St Mark's Road to benefit too!
