HGVs getting stuck

HGVs are entering Barnes St, then Shaftesbury Terrace and get stuck at the junction of Claremont Terrace and Lewin St. When this happened last christmas, 5 cars and high level cables were damaged when a HGV driver went crazy. HGVs often get into difficulties in this street as it is too narrow for large vehicles. One driver said the internal GPS in the truck take them this route (diversion due to roadworks on feeder road). Can a sign be installed at the start of Barnes to prohibit HGVs entering? Lorries/trucks are ok, it is the very large vehicles that are problematic and should not enter small residential street with cars parked (legally) on both sides.
