Speed Camera Stem
Reported via desktop in the Carriageway Defect category anonymously at 10:57, Tue 5 January 2021
Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2462043.
On the A4 in Shirehampton heading into Bristol close to the junction of Hung Lane / M5 Bridge is a speed camera . About 2 years ago work was done to replace the vertical stem with a much taller steel beam . The contractor left the old steel box beam alongside the camera which is located in the mid lane 4 way traffic flow .It is about 10 feet long . A plastic red hazard fence unit was secured to the camera . This is a road safety hazard. Can it be arranged for it to be moved and be disposed of safely ? I sense the contractor failed to remove it at end of the job . Thank you. Regret you have no sub element to allow me to record issue as "Speed Camara " issue

Hello I drove past the site yesterday 27 January and the steel stem of the speed camera was still lying in the central separation paving area. What does it take to send a truck to lift , remove it to a scrap yard? Over 3 weeks have gone now? What has your 3 week investigation discovered? Richard

Hello I first reported the issue to you 5 Jan 2021. Despite 3 reports back to you nothing has been done to take away the old stem. I cycled past it again today and took this picture . Speaking to aResident they said it had been lying there since Christmas 2019. Very disappointed at the inability of BCC to remove the scrapped steel metal beam after 28 months and 3 months chasing . Please just remove it . Many thanks. Richard

Hello On Thursday 23 April 2021 I drove past the speed camera and the old steel stem was still lying beside it. Its now 2 years and 4 months have gone by and BCC has still failed to arrange to remove and scrap this road safety hazard. What does it take to ensure Bristol City Council actually remove it as indicated many months ago they would . Please just do it. Thank you Richard
