Concerns with current road works
Reported via desktop in the General Highways Enquiry category anonymously at 14:24, Thu 14 January 2021
Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2478197.
Concerns have been raised over the current road surfacing works taking place on Lawford Street and the code of conduct shown by those carrying out the work. Music has been played loudly from 8am and concerns over the impact that this has for the residents in the area, along with over night works which have caused houses to shake to the point of fear for the buildings safety which has also in turn woken up residents. Further concerns include that communication has not been effective enough to details the on-going disruption that may/has been caused including the frequency of over night works, resulting into frustration of residents.

These essential works are required to safely maintain the highway and its electrical assets. The signal crossing is being refurbished as it was life-expired and the highway resurfacing is part of a city wide resurfacing program requiring careful planning with road closures and night shifts. The surfacing was completed 14 Jan and the traffic signal refurbishment is due to be finished 11 Feb. Generally with these highway refurbishments, once completed they are then good for the next 20 years.
