Bus Gate Signage

There is not enough signage to show that you are entering into a bus gate after the turn off into Queens Charlottes Street. There is 1 visible sign to show the bus gate exists within 90 yards of the sign, and then there is no clear signage after that. If the sign is obscured by any large vehicle, you have no way of knowing it is there unless you have previously driven down the road. The Bus Gate is placed too far up the road to be visible, and once you have got to the bus gate, you have no where to go (you cannot perform a legal u-turn, and both left and right turns are now bus gates.) The bus gate should be sign-posted better, and should begin immediately after the turn off to Queen Charlotte street, with clear signage at the junction to ensure drivers do not fall foul. The lack of signage and placement of the only sign and the location of the bus gate clearly show it is a scheme to make money off of unaware drivers who do not frequently visit this area of Bristol. It also shows on bristol.Gov.Uk the location of where the bus gate starts, which is just below the junction of bristol bridge and the high street, but you can clearly drive from Queen Charlotte Street up until the junction, leaving you no other option than to drive through the bus gate, incurring a fine, or performing a dangerous or illegal U-turn.
It would be useful to fix this issue, by moving the bus gate further down Baldwin Street, to the junction of Queen Charlotte Street, and sign posting the location of the bus gate more clearly.

If the bus gate moved nearer to Queen Charlotte Street it would prevent vehicle access (for loading etc) to some of the vehicles in Baldwin Street. The Bus Gate at the east end of Baldwin Street is very clearly sign posted, with the addition of text on the road surface. See: https://goo.gl/ maps/ YP1RkSVz9XLeUfya9
