Gaol Ferry Bridge supports rusted through
Reported via mobile in the Bridges/Subways category anonymously at 09:00, Thu 22 April 2021
Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later
The welds between the support arches and pillars have failed due to rust and are now moving freely when pedestrians pass. This looks like an imminent safety hazard. The area most seriously affected is on the west aspect closer to the spike island side, but there appears to be other areas badly affected by rust that could give way in a similar way any moment, particularly if carrying extra strain from the failure mentioned. I strongly urge an engineer to inspect this as a matter of urgency.
