Dangerous parking during school collection and drop off times
Reported via mobile in the Car parking category anonymously at 09:35, Wed 19 May 2021
Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2735345.
On school road leading to Hillcrest Primary school there is daily parking both on pavements and on double yellow lines. This is really problematic at times of school pickup and collection. Parking on the pavements makes it impossible to distance from other people and necessitates walking in the often busy road with children. Often the cars occupy so much of the pavements that one needs to turn sideways to get through. People are also parking on double yellow lines just to get close to the school gates instead of parking further away and walking a few extra minutes. The teachers stand in the road trying to manage traffic when they should be focused on children. I have never seen a police officer or cso or traffic officer attend. Between 3.15-3.35pm would be an ideal time for an officer to attend and see the dangerous parking activity going on.
Updates
-
No change to parking along the pavement. There remains barely room to walk single file along the pavement due to cars. Certainly the parking on pavements continues to make it impossible to pass other people at any safe distance and necessitates walking in the road and avoiding traffic.
No police, traffic wardens or CSAs seen and no tickets or notices seen on any of these cars.
There has been noticeably less parking on double yellow lines directly outside the school.
