Deep pothole, York Road. Just before the lights facing the roundabout.

Reported via mobile in the Carriageway Defect category anonymously at 16:10, Sat 29 May 2021

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

On York Road. Not the best picture sorry, but deep enough to get a cyclist into trouble. It's been there for several months.

  • This deep pothole is still there. It would definitely knock a cyclist off their bike if they went into it. It is very deep.

  • I want to backup the report, pothole growing longer and deeper, I believe one pothole was already filled in this exact spot so maybe a section needs removing and renewing.

  • Hi- that pothole is still there and someday soon there will be a serious accident with a cyclist there- it would definitely knock someone off their bike if they went into it. Why is it taking so long??

  • I can't believe that this pothole has been allowed to get this deep, as I took images, a cyclist narrowly missed it as he approached the junction whilst looking up and right for any oncoming vehicles ( there shouldn't have been but one has to glance to check) just a small pothole can give me a nasty knock to my hands and/ or back, I dread to think what this one would do. Does the inspector judge that no cyclist would ever ride over a pothole in this location? As a habitual, all my adult life cyclist I can tell you that one cannot always choose the ideal route and that navigating the traffic is no.1 priority there cannot therefore be horrendous holes in the road. Even at low speed perhaps just about to dismount onto the island this could imho throw a cyclist off.
