No Through Road sign still obscured by stickers

Reported via desktop in the Road Signage category anonymously at 18:41, Sun 12 September 2021

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

I have received an email saying my previous complaint has been closed and no further action is needed! However, one of the No Through Road Signs at the bottom on Langton Park is still obscured by stickers and grafitti. It needs to be cleaned or replaced. The sign on the other side of the road was replaced several weeks ago and I put an update on Fix My Street to say remaining sign still needed to be dealt with. This issue has been reported numerous times! Very large vans come into the street without realising that is it a No Through Road. They often get stuck at the top of the cul-de-sac and can't turn around unless residents move their cars. Residents' cars also get scratched and dented by vehicles which are too large for the narrow street - again often they have driven up the street without realising it is a narrow dead end. It is frustrating that one of the signs was replaced and the other one was left covered in stickers - why not replace both at the same time?? I can't believe it is taking so long to get this resolved and has required so many messeages from numerous Langton Park residents!

  • My reports on this issue have been ignored for months and the reports keep being closed even though the issue has not been fixed! One No Through Road sign has been replaced but the other has been left covered in stickers and illegible. Why replace one and not the other?

  • This issue is still ongoing - one of the No Through Road Signs is still covered in stickers and graffiti. This means large vehicles come up this cul-de-sac and are unable to turn at the top. Many residents cars have been damaged by trucks and vans trying to turn around, including the one shown in the attached photograph. The resident had had this car for less than a month - a turning vehicle ripped the bodywork open and drove off without leaving their details leaving the owner with a repair bill for £2000!! Please replace the second No Through Road Sign ASAP.

  • The sign is still covered in stickers and large vehicles continue to turn into the street by mistake. Many residents’ vehicles have been damaged in recent weeks by vans and lorries which are too wide to negotiate the street and turn successfully at the top of the cul de sac. Many of these drivers don’t leave their details meaning residents have to foot the bill for the repairs themselves. I first reported this issue over 2 years ago. One of the No Through Road signs was replaced in 2021 but the other was left covered in stickers!

  • The issue has NOT been fixed, despite me complaining for over 18 months about it!! I'm completely fed up and disillusioned by this method of raising an issue and am very tempted to buy my own No Through Road Sign and erect it myself! Very poor service indeed!

  • The issue still hasn't been fixed - the sign is still obscured by stickers and the new sign on the other side of the junction is getting defaced with stickers now as well. Drivers cannot see the No Through Road sign and drive up this steep narrow cul de sac and get stuck at the top!
