Hello,
I would like to make a claim for damage to my car's coil springs and have attached evidence of the incident and explained in my own words below.
I was driving back to Dove Street, Bristol on Tuesday evening (week commencing 20th of Sept) and the only available spots to park were reserved by Bristol City Council for a filming crew (which has been regularly blocking a large portion of an already limited range of parking spots in Dove Street for over a year and damaging Dove Street which is covered in potholes as they drive huge lorries over roads that are not designed for those loads), I was told that I could not park there and that I would need to find somewhere else to park - I was directed towards Somerset St as an alternative parking spot.
I drove towards Somerset St and as I drove onto the road, from Kingsdown Parade, I drove over two huge but not very visible potholes (as it was dark and that street, Spring Hill, is very poorly lit) that have damaged my car - at the time the car made a loud snapping sound but I could not figure out what it was. As I already had a mechanic appointment for the 27th of September I thought i would not use the car and then simply review it then (unfortunately this appointment was rescheduled by the mechanic until today). I have now heard back from the garage and have been informed that the coil spring has snapped and therefore I am seeking compensation for this. Particularly as I have just discovered that these potholes were reported to Bristol City Council in August.
I have attached evidence of the damaged parts.
I look forward to hearing back from you on next steps.
Thank you
