  • A warning sign, cones and a diversion have been placed around the broken manhole cover, however the sign keeps falling down and the cones keep ending up in the wrong place and vehicles continue to drive over it. The noise is as bad as it has been for the past few weeks. Also last night revellers moved cones to the middle of the other lane causing further danger.

  • The cones do not even protect the broken manhole cover so vehicles are still driving over it and the noise unbearable.

  • All the council are doing is repositioning the cones. The manhole cover is clanking again this morning. When is this going to be fixed?

  • Exactly cones and signs everywhere bar where the noise would be prevented. When will the actual repair work be carried out?

  • This whole thing is a fiasco 😥 It looks as if the cover has been Tarmaced over to quieten it down, but already the Tramac is breaking up, so the noise is back. Every time I pass I reposition the cones over the noisy cover, but a minute later a large Lorry knocks the cones and drives over the cover again. Cones are no use, it needs heavy concrete blocks over that cover until it is properly mended.

  • Still not fixed manhole cover still busy clanking away. Comes on wrong position and seen a couple of near misses as cars veer to avoid cones

  • Is this ever going to be fixed. It’s hard to describe how annoying this has been for weeks now. The bollards are damaged by the traffic hitting them so the minuscule effect they had diminishes every day. Will the council please just tell us when you are going to do your job and resolve this issue.

  • Will the person reading this please escalate this to the HIGHEST AUTHORITY IN THE COUNCIL as it's been going on for THREE WEEKS 😠 Today as I walked past it was clattering VERY LOUDLY again, as the Cones keep moving or are being moved, and the "Keep Left" Direction sign had either blown over, or had been kicked flat on the ground, so it was causing Traffic Chaos !! So I put the sign back up, and realigned the cones so vehicles wouldn't be driven over the noisy Manhole Cover, until the next vehicles knock them away again. If Wessex Water (whoever) cannot make an URGENT repair, will someone from the Council use some of those interlocking HEAVY barriers, so that drunks or vehicles cannot move them away from the Drain Cover, and preferably use a heavy concrete block barrier over the cover itself. It must be a nightmare for the residents living in the Flats opposite 😡 Does "anyone" from the Coucil care about their well-being?

  • Can the council please address this issue now I have little doubt that if this manhole and the attendant noise were outside the Mayors or senior council employees house this issue would have been addressed. Al we have seen is inaction by the council this matter needs to be fixed and NOW

  • Another day, weekend and soon to be month with nothing done. Yet again another morning brings clattering from the drain cover, conversations about how much it kept you awake and todays game of how do the bollards look today. Well simply put the answer to that is broken and ineffective (rather like the system to solve this problem) Ime beginning to believe that this report simply doesn’t get to those that it needs to.

  • Still not fixed after many weeks - not sure what our expensive council tax is being spent on if not things like this! The cones in the road keep moving away from the issue leaving it exposed again. We live in the flats opposite and are having sleepless nights due to the noise and have resorted to moving the cones ourselves to try and help but they just move away again due to the traffic passing close to them. Please fix this ASAP and in the meantime provide some sandbags or similar to weigh down the cones.
